Increasingly, supplementing one's income (especially for mountain farms within the Ladin Viles) with ever-growing fixed costs, has become a necessity for survival. At the same time, the number of sustainability-conscious consumers is increasing. They are orienting their choices towards the authenticity of the purchased products, particularly food and everyday items. As a result, weekly markets have spread to many places where farmers - very adept at making a virtue of necessity - often offer their produce (from fruit and vegetables to manufacturing). This allows them to reach levels of excellence that even large-scale production is forced to recognise. Today, in Marebbano and San Martin, many of the local products can also be found in neighbourhood shops. Furthermore, small stores are also opening in the Ladin Viles and on the farms themselves, where typical local delicacies are produced with absolute fidelity to their centuries-old traditions. Here is a quick list... |
The tradition of farmers' markets has a long history throughout the Dolomites.... and Val Badia is no exception. On the contrary! They are probably among the places where residents meet on a weekly basis with the farmers. They represent the taste and flavour of a united and solid community. Our farmers combine innovation and tradition to offer consumers food and home-made products that are simple, genuine, and delightful. The milk is turned cheese, butter and other dairy products from cattle, sheep, and goats. Unsold fruit is turned into jams, spirits or tasty dried snacks, cereals into rich and tasty flours, and butchered meat into the best cuts for sale or into sauces, stews, and typical charcuterie. Life on the farms has always led farmers to put emphasis on craftsmanship, which has sometimes evolved into objects that are much appreciated by locals and visitors alike. “Agri Col Art' was born from the union and cooperation of our farmers, breeders, and creative craftsmen, who decided to organise a farmers' market on a weekly basis. This is a meeting point for all the people who love nature and its products - whether natural or processed - that always originate from the Dolomites and the fruit of the meadows, land, farms, and forests of the Marebbe region. |
