Think out of the box: if you have the chance come and visit us during the low seasons (such as spring and autumn) and stay longer. We are sure you will enjoy unforgettable experiences. In spring - after the cold temperatures of winter - nature awakens. During this time, you can admire animals walking in the Nature Park, the blossoming trees and all the greenery that has been covered by snow. The days are starting to get longer, and this allows you to enjoy our mountains for longer. Autumn is a season to be experienced and discovered. In fact, after the summer months, the mountains are peaceful. The fireplaces in our alpine huts, allow you to rediscover the intimacy of these wonderful places. The evenings are getting longer, so together with your family and friends you can enjoy a nice dinner made of lots of autumn delicacies, such as game, mushrooms, and cheese.
Did you know that you can also reach San Vigilio by public transport? You can get to Brunico by trains. From there, bus services are available to take you to us. It is not a problem if you prefer reaching us by car. However, once you arrive at our place, leave it parked at the hotel, since you don't need it here. The bus services will take you wherever you want to go. When you arrive at your accommodation you will receive a HolidayPass, which allows you to use all South Tyrolean public transport free of charge. If you don’t receive it, do not hesitate to ask for it!
When travelling, it is always a good idea to respect the locals and their traditions. The best way to do this is to say hello to us. Try doing it in Ladin by saying "bun dé". We are sure you will feel part of our big family. These are small gestures that make us happy and appreciate very much. Saying "iolan" - which means “thank you” - is always a nice gesture that is very welcome. Our farmers put a lot of effort into looking after the meadows that are there. Respect their hard work by not trampling on the grass and staying within the walking paths. This is a small form of courtesy that means a lot to us.
Ours is a predominantly peasant cuisine which is linked to our territory, seasons, and typical products. Even if simple, our dishes never cease to amaze and attract new people. Our typical foods are all to be discovered and often their recipes are different even from other places but equally tasty. Try our 'Tultres', 'Canci' and other delicacies that are part of our culture: you will not be disappointed. Our craftsmen produce objects according to the Ladin tradition and culture. They are looking forward to showing you the result of their woodwork, such as furniture, statues, tools. If you like, you can also buy something little to take home as a souvenir.
Water in the Dolomites is excellent and pure. It comes directly from our mountains, so there is no need to buy bottled water. Our advice: do not use disposable water bottles and fill your own water bottle or flask from our water fountains or the tap. We assure you that our water is fresh, clean, and good. Furthermore, by reusing your bottle you are also helping reduce your environmental impact. Remember our restaurants also serve tap water, so be sure to ask for it when you order food.
Our territory is also our home, so we care about keeping it clean and tidy. This also includes being very careful at how we handle waste. As a tourist destination we want to encourage sustainable tourism. In fact, we have obtained the GSTC Certification as proof of this commitment. Our facilities also try to reduce waste. In fact, many of them have a policy on the use of towels: don't ask for them to be replaced with fresh ones every day, as this saves a lot of energy. Please also respect waste collection according to the guidelines provided. Help us improve. The environment will benefit from this.
You have reached us, so stick around for a long time. Ours is a very big territory, you don't need to go too far. Stay here with us and explore all of it. There are activities and places to discover that suit all tastes: from walks in the mountains to discover magical places, to visits of cultural sites such as the Ladin Museum or the Valle dei Mulini, as well as the wonderful "Val dl’Ert".
Nature, as you may have already guessed, is important to us: we grew up in these woods and spend a lot of time in them. We are in the middle of two Nature Parks, the Fanes-Senes-Braies and the Puez-Odle. While you are with us, enjoy nature, walk freely in the woods, and admire the plants as well as animals that live in the wild. Stop and breathe in the fresh air of the Dolomites, put your phone away and enjoy the landscape. Relax you're on holiday, it's good for your body and mind.
